It's been over a year since I posted absolutely anything on here. Sorry. Life took over and I didn't have time...or forgot...or whatever. Well, anyway, it's August now...of 2015. Almost the end of the month too. This year has flown by, and a lot of changes have occurred!
For one, DH and I moved back downstate because I FINALLY GOT A JOB!!
Now, when I got the job, I wasn't sure whether I would like this new job. I'm a visiting nurse for a Home Health Agency. I had to learn how to DRIVE. Can you imagine? Me? Driving? I was terrified! But...I was also desperate to get the HELL out of Cooperstown with it's small people and it's boring environment. So I relearned how to drive - with the help of DH. Now, I can't imagine not driving - I LOVE IT! In fact, I absolutely love my job. It feels wonderful to be appreciated for what I do. I remember my mother asking me how I will deal with the patient's down here, since New Yorkers are often seen as hard to deal with, rude, etc. The patient's I've had so far have been fantastic. Very grateful, very generous. Of course, there are the pain in the asses, but nothing I cannot deal with. The fact that I do not have to stay on a hospital floor for 12 hours a day is also fabulous! I get to go from one house to another, usually seeing 6 patients a day. I can eat lunch wherever and whenever I want, yell it out in the car if a patient frustrates me, be outside on lovely sunny days during the summer - I am truly enjoying what I do. Plus, the benefits can't be beat. Four weeks of vacation, 5 personal days, and sick days that accumulate. My PSM (patient service manager) is amazing - so easy to work with and understanding!!!! Definitely did not get that at Bassett, where the nurse manager was nothing more than a HUMONGOUS female dog. So that was one big change. :)
We moved into a one bedroom apartment right next to DH's mom and dad. It worked out well, not many places would have accommodated our animals - even though they are all great. Plus, we didn't have much time. I have my interview for the new job in October and started on November 10, 2014. Crazy! So we had to do everything fairly quick. I like our apartment because we pretty much made it the way it is. Painted the walls, put in carpeting, DH did dry wall on the ceiling, placed down wood floors. It was a lot of work - but now it's a cozy little apartment. Not enough light, but what can we do? Oh well!
We are also going to be traveling to London, England from November 2nd to November 12th! We cannot wait. Thank God for our great tax refund! Exciting!!!!
Still no sign of a baby, however we are no longer desperate for a baby. We both realized that once we have a child, we are tied down. We would be unable to do what we want, when we want to. We won't be able to save money or travel. It would be absolutely problematic for us at this point. Plus, I personally want to have a house before we have a child. Why bring a baby into the world and then have them live in a tiny apartment with no backyard or anything? No. No, no. I would not do that. Needless to say, if it happens, it happens. If not, then it doesn't. At this point, we are enjoying being the two of us. Most couples don't get that because they pop out babies before their first wedding anniversary...and honestly, that's not my thing anymore. You need years of marriage before you can truly say "we should have a child." You need to be settled, making good money, and fully ready for that type of commitment. Of course, this is my opinion. If you don't agree, that's alright! :D
Well, that's all for now. Love and hugs!!
